Higher Vibe artist Janis Kelly is a singer-songwriter, performer, educator, and “musical instigator” on a mission to lift your spirit, stir your soul, and open your heart with her hip-shaking blend of jazz, r&b, soul and pop tunes that come wrapped in an inspiring, uplifting, and empowering message--one that's so needed on the planet at this time!
In keeping with her vision of using music to change the world, Janis has been writing, recording, performing and sharing her original songs for nearly 20 years, releasing seven albums along-the way, including her latest, Keep on Reaching, in November 2023. Featuring world-class studio musicians Eric Moon, Ryan Jalbert, Bijoux Barbosa, Paul McDaniel, Christian Teele, Larry Thompson, Eric Schneider and Kurt Moorehead, plus a cast of gifted background vocalists, this 18-song project spans three volumes and numerous genres, all with a steady undercurrent of soul!
During her 40+ year career as a professional touring vocalist, Janis was honored to share the stage and studio with such artists and musical influences as Carole King, Chaka Khan, Tower of Power, The Neville Brothers and Maurice White from Earth, Wind & Fire. Since moving to Colorado in 2009, Janis has graced the stages of numerous clubs, theaters, and festivals, including Cervantes, Nissi's, Shine, Jazz @ Jack's, Boulder Theater, Swallow Hill, Taste of Colorado, Cherry Creek Arts Fest and Crestone Music Festival, to name a few. These days, Janis performs in a variety of settings and configurations, from a solo act featuring vocals and keyboards to leading a 10-piece band complete with horns and background vocals and everything in-between. In addition to her original music, she plays and sings classic jazz, blues, pop, r&b and soul and can cover any artist, style or era, including tribute shows. Past productions include "OVERJOYED," a Stevie Wonder tribute; "Girls Like Us," tribute to Carly Simon, Carole King and Joni Mitchell; Woodstock @50 tribute; "Tapestry Revisited," tribute to Carole King's album; Summer of Love tribute and "Divas Through The Decades."
